In the hustle and the bustle of a world that moves too fast

Tune: Battle Hymn of the Republic ("Mine eyes have seen the coming of the glory of the Lord")

This was written for the 10.30 service at Tilehurst Methodist Church on July 7th 2007. It came to me when I decided to have a rest one Sunday evening after putting the children to bed instead of immediately starting to work. As it happened, that rest was more productive than anything else I could have done in the time.

(Too quickly)
1. In the hustle and the bustle of a world that moves too fast,
If you stop and take a look you'll see your life just flying past,
In the race towards tomorrow I don't care if I come last,
God's peace should reign within.

Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
God's peace should reign within.

2. In the never-ending quest to get the most we can from life,
We forget the treasure of the peace from struggle and from strife.
When our diaries overrule our hearts and panicking is rife,
God's peace must reign within.

Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
God's peace must reign within.

(Very slowly)
3. In the stillness of a sunrise we can feel a change of pace,
When the human race is human but our life is not a race,
If we open up our hearts to God we'll find a resting place,
God's peace will reign within.

Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
God's peace will reign within.
